Overjoyed About Inclusion Livestreams

Our Odyssey has always been committed to equity and inclusion since it was founded. Our social meetups and other programs are a safe space for young adults to be who they are and share their stories without judgment. If any young adult requests a specific accommodation in order to fully participate in our programs, we do our best to provide it. But we want to do more.

Over the years we have heard from many of our participants about the societal and digital barriers that make it difficult to feel socially included. So we started the Overjoyed About Inclusion livestream network, an awareness movement focused on promoting social inclusion while highlighting the stories of members and advocates of the disability community! We host gaming, music, and (soon) cooking livestreams where viewers can participate by watching, chatting, and sharing personal experiences.

Please contact us If you (or a young adult you know) live with a rare or chronic condition and are interested in being on one of our livestreams and sharing your story, the barriers you faced, and the ways you have adapted!

The idea behind Overjoyed About Inclusion was born when Our Odyssey board member Anthony’s rare disease, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, made it impossible for him to play video games using any physical controllers. Inspired to action, Anthony and his friend Jonah invented the Overjoyed Accessible Controller, a new way to play games that transforms small mouse movements into button presses, allowing people with low to no dexterity or movement to continue doing what they love. What began with weekly livestreams showcasing Overjoyed development and accessibility discussions, has been evolving into an awareness platform for social inclusion.

“The goal of Our Odyssey’s partnership with Anthony is to utilize his knowledge about digital accessibility, and experience overcoming barriers to social inclusion, to expand our ability to raise awareness and help our community feel less alone.” - Megwyn Sanders-Andrews, Our Odyssey Board Member
